The world premier was featured in Nové Město nad Metují

The International Music Festival of F. L. Věk 2012 / 2012-11-25 / The Curch of Holy Trinity in Nové Město nad Metují

The whole of the Church of Holy Trinity in Nové Město nad Metují was used by visitors on Sunday, when there was the last concert of this year from F.L.Věk International Music Festival. The Boys Choir BONI PUERI lived up to its excellent reputation. From the first note it was clear that the audience was going to witness something really special, but they did not know that there were two big surprises to still come - the world premiere of the Students' Carol from the contemporary composer Sylvie Bodorová in Nové Město nad Metují and the personal attendance of the composer herself. Sylvie Bodorová was first recognized in the late nineties, her "Terezin Ghetto Requiem" with baritone solo (1998) was performed in USA in Wigmore Hall, also in the Deutsche Oper to mark the "fall of the Berlin Wall" and in other places. Nowadays, she is one of the most frequently played Czech composers; her compositions are recognized abroad and they represent contemporary Czech music culture at major venues and festivals. The Students' Carol, which was performed on Sunday, was composed for the F.L.Věk International Music Festival and especially for the performing choir. She really enjoyed attending the concert personally, not only because BONI PUERI performed excellently. "I was really pleased about the high attendance and a very attentive and friendly audience. It both testifies a good culture in this region." said the composer. Her next words can be enjoyed especially by the organizers "I was delighted to compose this song, because I am happy when young people organize events like these, which is not an easy thing to do. I see great hope in Pavel Svoboda and his team." Sylvie Bodorová sees the future of the festival really promising, she has been convinced by organizers and audience. An important role is also played by the success of the excellent programming. The festival was closed by BONI PUERI, which left a great feeling in everybody. Approaching the time of Advent everyone is "tuned up", so expressions like "Angelic singing" are right to be used at this time. BONI PUERI definitely brought this type of singing. The male voices combined with exceptional boy sopranos were an unforgettable experience for the audience. Soprano solos reminded the words of the Dobruška's native, whose name is used in the festival name: "František began with his clear, silvery voice and the priests looked at each other. František sounded like a lark."" once wrote Alois Jirásek in his novel F.L.Věk. The same enthusiasm was created by BONI PUERI and the whole second F.L.Věk International Music Festival. On Friday we are going to ask the Artistic Director Pavel Svoboda, what the organizers think, and we hope that he will tell us about the next year festival, which is already underway.          «« Zpět
