Final report (English)


The second Internatinal Music Festival of F. L. Vek ended on Sunday with a fully sold out concert of the Czech Boys Choir Boni Pueri that took place in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Nové Město nad Metují. A number of media reported about this year's festival. The interviews with the artists were published on Czech Radio, Czech Radio 3 Vltava, web portal Opera PLUS, Rychnovský Daily, Orlický Weekly and others. Most concerts were sold out and the average attendance of the second year festival was around 170 people per concert, in total, eight concerts were visited by more than a thousand of people.

Program 2012

The audience from Dobruška and its surrounding could see grand performances, including the Requiem in D minor by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart performed by the Czech Philharmonic Choir from Brno and the Chamber Philharmonics from Pardubice. František Vladislav Hek personality and his literary work was presented by Alfred Strejček. Other interesting concerts were performed by world known artists like Ivan Ženatý and Josef Špaček (violin), Petr Nouzovský (cello), Ludmila Peterková (clarinet), Pavel Steidl (guitar) and Bennewitz Quartet. Newly reconstructed pipe organs in the Church of Holy Spirit were played by a diocesan organist Václav Uhlíř. The top Italian soprano Raffaella Milanesi and the Orchestra of period-instruments Collegium 1704 with its conductor Václav Luks presented the work of the Baroque composer George Frederic Handel. The Talich Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra and its conductor Jan Talich presented the work of Mozart. Enthusiastic audiences gave standing ovations to many protagonists and demanded encores.

Premieres

There were two world premiers presented at the festival. They were composed for the festival - The choral work Students' Carol from the famous composer Sylvie Bodorová and the show about František Vladislav Hek presented by narrator Alfred Strejček, which is now being negotiated with the Czech Radio to be recorded.

F. L. Věk Internatinal Music Festival Award

The project ''F.L. Věk International Music Festival Award'' aims to prize a person, whose life's work or extraordinary artistic achievements contributed to the regional culture. The F.L. Věk Award can also be given to an important personality from the world of culture that comes from Eastern Bohemia. The Award is given every year and the decision is made by the F.L.Věk Festival Committee. The nominations are received from the general public. The Award for 2012 was given to professor Václav Rabas, who accepted it from the hands of Senator Mgr. Miluše Horská. This event was also attended by the composer Luboš Sluka, who is the award holder for the year 2011. Professor Václav Rabas (*1933), the organ virtuoso, the founding director of the Conservatory of Pardubice and the professor of Music Faculty in Prague in years 1977 to 1991, significantly contributed to the culture and education in Eastern Bohemia. As the winner of the first International Organ Competition Pražské Jaro 1958, he performed regularly with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra even on foreign music festivals, where he interpreted work of Czech composers from the Baroque era to contemporary music. The International Music Festival of F. L. Věk 2013

Organizers of the F. L. Věk International Music Festival are already preparing next year's festival, the program will be published during 2013. Once again, you can look forward to top Czech and foreign artists, varied programs, meetings with interesting people from the world of culture and also to discounted season tickets for the entire festival. **Many thanks for the support from all our partners and organizers.
